Satellite image of La Désirade (Guadeloupe)

    Located in front of Pointe des Châteaux of Grande-Terre, La Désirade was discovered 1493 by Christopher Columbus during his 2nd voyage toward the Americas. It is said that the sailors of the famous navigator would have given it this poetic name because they moaned not to have met earth yet since their departure from the Canary Islands.
