The Banana tree
is an herbaceous plant (Musaceae), native to Southeast Asia . Wild species are still existing (Philippines, Indonesia), but the banana tree is especially cultivated (for its fruits) in all hot countries of the earth.
People cultivates the banana tree since millenniums, constantly trying to improve the species by selections and crossings, having dragged the barrenness of the varieties of the actual bananas.
The female flowers produce fruits, which have no seeds. When the plant dies, one transplant living stems which will give a grown-up tree of 6 metres high.
