West Indies flowers : Bougainvillea



     Bougainvillea, native to South America, owes its name to the navigator Louis-Antoine de Bougainville remained famous for his sailing around the world with the botanist Philibert Commerson (expedition sponsored by the Prince of Nassau). For the small history, know that Commerson had embarked his mistress dressed up as a man, whom he posed for his manservant. Jeanne Barret was so the first woman to sail around the world.
