Chinese hibiscus or China rose

     Chinese hibiscus, or China rose (hibiscus rosa-sinensis) is native to Asia. Its leaves are evergreeen. Its flowers last only one day and renew themselves always from June till October. The name hibiscus, of Greek origin, means : plant devoted to Ibis, sacred bird of ancient Egypt. The creole name of the hibiscus is Gwo kokliko wouj (big red poppy).
