Leeward Island of the Society Archipelago, Huahine is composed of 2 islands linked up by a bridge : in the north Huahine Nui (big Huahine) and in the south Huahine Iti (Little Huahine). Huahine is called "memory island", because of its many sites and archaeological remains. Huahine shelters many "marae" paved with stones, where Tahitians practiced worship in the old days.
