    The atoll of Manuae is the westernmost from Polynesia. He counts a dozen of motu 4 km2 in area. The walk around the atoll is 20 km. It is a natural reserve which shelters green turtles during the season of the laying. In 1855, an English three-master, Julia Ann, was shipwrecked there, during the crossing to California from Australia. 63 survivors lived 2 months on the uninhabited atoll before being able to reach Raiatea. Manuae Atoll is also kwown as Scilly.
