Maupiti is the smallest of the Leeward Islands (French Polynesia). Located 315 km of Tahiti, it stayed sheltered from mass tourism and is considered to be the most authentic, with its splendid lagoon and its five motu dominated by Mount Teurafaatui (380 m). In Tahitian, Mau-piti means both mountains.
