The beach with black sand of Saint-Pierre (Martinique)

The beach of Saint-Pierre, covered with black sand, reminds the presence of the volcano that dominates the bay. It is not the only beach with black sand in Martinique. Anse Céron and Anse Couleuvre in the North of the island, Anse Noire in the South, testify to the volcanic past of Martinique, whose geological history goes back to 24 millions years.
