The banana museum in Martinique : the banana flower


     The banana tree is an herbaceous plant native to Indonesia, but brought back from western Africa towards the Antilles by the Spanish and Portuguese navigators in the 16th century. Every plant produces a flower. When this flower opens, it lets appear young bananas which will form a hand. The pistil is at the end of a long stem.
